The Rio Chavon - nearest Indigenous Forest in Punta Cana!
The Chavon River is a lovely waterway that runs 30 minutes west of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. This rugged area is a sanctuary overgrown with rainforest greenery. It is, undoubtedly, a recommendable site to visit by boat or in canoe. Experience the stream where Apocalypse Now was filmed. The stream streams through a deep gorge to the Caribbean Sea just east of La Romana. The banks are overgrown with a mix of dry tropical forest and genuine tropical rainforest. Conventional river boats leave just outside La Romana, a 30 minute taxi fare from the Punta Cana airport.

On the banks of this beautiful stream you can discover a haven in the jungle: the Tanama Jungle Ranch. You can see this wonderful ranch while vacationing in Punta Cana or Bayahibe. Surrounded by hills covered with true rainforest the ranch boosts a variety of native animals and plants. You can touch the iguanas, parrots, snakes and tarantulas. The trip aims to show you fun truths and weird appearances in this jungle ... the Wonders of Nature Tour ...

The Jungle Eco excursion covers the National Park del Este near Bayahibe and the Rio Chavon. The park is home to more than 500 flora species, 300 kinds of birds, and long stretches of beaches and underwater wonders, the National Park of the East is among the most visited and protected areas in the country. While here visitors can track, find ancient Taino ruins or participate in bird watching trips.

Both trips are provided by PuntaCanaExcursions.com. Book online and save! Take a look at the great video!
